everyday saints – rumspringa

Praise the Lord, everyday saints are here with their single ‘rumspringa’.
Guitarist and co-vocalist Pip Rainbird describes the everyday saints sound as “dingepop from a seaside tourist trap.” Well, that’s one way of describing Brighton.
‘rumspringa’ is a beautifully constructed song with rich vocal harmonies and wonderful chord-melody tension. There’s a nostalgic feel to it reminiscent of the Cardigans ‘Lovefool’.

everyday saints excel at songs themed around love and isolation. There’s something vaguely disturbing about the voyeuristic infatuation they convey, but it’s fascinating stuff. ‘rumspringa’ is a bittersweet song that will resonate with jilted lovers everywhere. The dynamic between Pip Rainbird and fellow vocalist Jade Middleton only adds to the Romeo and Juliet quality of the song.
Dark romance has historically been reserved for novels, but everyday saints have turned it in to a musical genre of their own. So, give ‘rumspringa’ a listen and partake in the joy of melancholy romance.
