Swim School – Heaven
swim school blow the doors of 2025 with new single ‘Heaven’. “Oh, here we go again” sings Alice Johnson, and she’s not wrong.
swim school are the voice of a generation. They take relatable topics such as sexism (Delirious), self-doubt (Seeing It Now), mental health (Anyway) and quirky relationships (Kill You) and wrap them around tub-thumping melodies. ‘Heaven’ explores the complexities and insecurities of relationships, set against the backdrop of a driving drum beat and pulsating guitars – tip of the hat to Billy McMahon and Lewis Bunting. The chorus is catchy as hell and Johnson’s vocals give the track a seductive quality, which is the perfect counterpoint to the lyrical content.
It will be interesting to hear how ‘Heaven’ sounds live. Fans won’t have to wait long as swim school play the 100 Club in London on 23rd January (last few tickets available here). I hope the venue has a strong floor; ‘cos the pit will be bouncing.
