They say it’s easy to be a poet, all you need is a good reason and a bad day.  Song writing?  That’s a different challenge.  The difficulty lies in finding the right music to fit the words.  HerOrangeCoat knows just how to do that, and there is no better example than her latest single Another Day to Hide.

HerOrangeCoat told me: “Anxiety and its impact on relationships is the main topic of Another Day to Hide.  It encapsulates a sense of helplessness that comes with mental illness, and how the everyday becomes horrifying.”

Heavy stuff then, but the message is delivered in a hypnotic, Dreampop style, reminiscent of Lana Del Rey.  It’s the ability to deliver this intensity in a musically appealing way that sets HerOrangeCoat apart from others.  Simply put, HerOrangeCoat is a beacon of light in a sea of Sadcore.

Another Day to Hide is a more detailed composition than previous tracks.  Earlier singles have seen stripped back vocals, ukulele and minimalistic production.  This song brings on board electric guitars and drums from Danny Blackburn, who co-produced the track.

So give Another Day to Hide a listen, and marvel at the magic that HerOrangeCoat produces.  She’s absolutely no reason to hide.
